Originally an empty lawn surrounded by dilapidated sidewalk and street trees, a 17,000 sq. ft. public plaza and playground were designed and created along with an engaging and playful streetscape to be enjoyed by all.
The new Morris Square Park playground intertwines fixed play equipment with rolling topography and a sliding hill for prescribed programming and imaginative play.
As an artistic interpretation of the 107-mile historic Morris Canal route, a bold street graphic meanders along Grove Street and into the Park, terminating at a monumental sign with information regarding the historical significance of the canal. With flush curbs and decorative pavement, street trees, bollards, and informational displays, Grove Street is designed to host year-round events and markets for the benefit of the community.
The Morris Square Park is a welcomed amenity for the community, successfully integrating Education, Public Art and Open Space into one terrific space!
